Vegan Jelly with Agar-Agar

A delightful, plant-based alternative to traditional gelatin, this vegan jelly is made with agar-agar, offering a smooth and wobbly texture that’s perfect for hot days or a guilt-free snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons agar-agar powder
  • 2 cups water (or coconut water)
  • 1 cup fruit juice or puree (your favorite flavor)
  • Sweetener (optional, e.g., agave or maple syrup)
  • Flavor extracts (optional, e.g., vanilla or almond extract)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by gathering all items and measuring cups.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of water with 2 tablespoons of agar-agar powder and stir well to avoid clumps.
  3. Heat over medium heat while stirring continuously, bringing the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce heat and add the fruit juice, stirring for 2-3 minutes until fully mixed.
  5. Add sweetener to taste if desired, adjusting sweetness as needed.
  6. Pour the mixture into jelly molds or small cups, ensuring no bubbles are trapped.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours or until fully set.

Notes

Ensure agar-agar is fully dissolved to avoid clumps, and taste before chilling to adjust sweetness. Can be made 2-3 days in advance.
